While a notary public in Connecticut is NOT required to maintain an official seal, there ARE specific guidelines ascribed by Conn. Gen. Stat. § 3-94k if choosing to do so. If deciding to utilize a notarial seal, it should be affixed near the notary’s official signature on any signed certificate. It can be circular or a rectangle. Use personal preference in combination with best judgement as ink color, shape, and dimensions are left undefined by state statute.
Include your name and the words “Notary Public”, “Connecticut “, and “My Commission Expires [+expiration date]” in some order. If the notary does not use a stamp or seal embosser, the words “Notary Public” and “My Commission Expires [+expiration date]” must be typed or legibly printed near the official signature of the notarized document.
